| Flame Safe OSB (oriented strand board) is a new generation of flame retardant building construction material for weather protected applications. It's low cost, low hygroscopicity and non corrosive property makes it the product of choice wherever wood sheathing material is specified. It has a lower in place cost than other non combustible sheathing materias such as plywood. |
| Flame Safe OSB is rated as a ASTM E84 Class A, ANSI/UL723 Type 1 sheathing product. Unlike other oriented strand board products manufactured using magnesium oxide or aluminum trioxide coatings, Flame Safe OSB is fire resistant on all sides and edges. Tests conducted by internationally recognized Intertek Testing Service has classified Flame Safe OSB with a flame spread rating of 0 and a smoke development of 40 based on the extended duration ASTM E84 and UL 723 test known as the ASTM E2768. In order to qualify as a Class A or Type 1 fire rated material the flame spread rating must be 25 or less and smoke development rating must be 450 or less. That's why most architects and engineers specify Flame Safe OSB for their building projects. |
